Blackberry Bold 9780 spotted in the Wild

Previously the Blackberry 9780 was rumored to come with OS6 and the new was as exciting as this , where the Blackberry 9780 has been spotted in the wild , Driphter.com have successfully got a 5 min video preview of the Blackberry 9780 running Blackberry OS 6 .

  • The Blackberry Bold 9780 looks similar to its older brother the Bold 9700 in hardware and design
  • The 5MP stamp near the rear cam is missing like the 9700 had
  • It has the same screen resolution as the Bold 9700
  • It is GSM ready
  • Blackberry OS6 is far smoother on the 9780 compared to previous device OS’s .
  • Same battery as seen in 9700 ( But what about the battery life ? )

So as far as we can figure out the biggest upgrade to this device is the OS 6 , and from a Blackberry developer point of view this is really awesome , rest of things are just a little here and there .

And as far as the release is concerned , it is not far behind the 9800 launch. And its exciting to know that OS6 is about to fall from the Blackberry’s OS bucket very soon with few releases .

Blackberry application developers have anew room for implementing their innovations in the power packed device .

BlackBerry App World 2.0 Beta available for validation

Research In Motion, the BlackBerry service provider, has launched the Beta version of its App World (BlackBerry App World 2.0 Beta) on a high note. RIM is highly optimistic about the success of this new generation app world and looking forward to have more people to join the BlackBerry Beta Zone, a communicating initiative from RIM for the Beta users.

The BlackBerry App World 2.0 Beta is now available only for the users registered in the Beta Zone. You can join the group as a consumer or an organization and can get the software for free. However you may have to wait for few days to experience the new software as it is subjected to availability. As a registered Beta user you will have the opportunity to use, validate and provide feedback on the programs and can contribute in the further development of the product before it becomes available for the general public. The Beta version is now available for the users in 34 countries around the world.

There are basically two types of programs in BlackBerry Beta Zone; e.g. Consumer Applications and Organization Software. Currently the Consumer applications available are:
·      BlackBerry Messenger and
·      Twitter for BlackBerry.

BlackBerry app developers can join the Beta Zone and take part in validation of the Organization Software. The Organization programs available include:
·      BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.1 for Novell GroupWise
·      BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.2 for Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino
·      BlackBerry Client for IBM Lotus Connections

If you join BlackBerry Beta Zone, you’ll be able to preview and evaluate the software before it hits the larger part of the market. As a beta participant, you can -
·      Contribute into product designing and the upcoming features
·      Help shape the future releases of BlackBerry products
·      Provide input through online discussions forums, feedback and surveys
·      Validate majorly the product features and help in technical documentation
·      Plan, train and prepare for the upcoming releases

Although no immediate gain has been promised, but the BlackBerry app developers taking part in it can have an edge over their competitors in understanding the product and developing some useful apps in near future.

Can BlackBerry 6 recreate the wave once again?

What are the things that can hold people in a long queue for hours? A new Harry Potter publication, a Van Gogh museum piece, a new block baster like Inception, a new flavor of Sprinkles cupcake, a pair of U2 concert tickets, Apple’s iPad or iPhone 4 and the list goes on. Each of those has been brilliantly marketed which has set a new standard in branding every time. Now the million dollar question is that whether the new BlackBerry products can create similar waves or not. However RIM is desperately trying to make it big and probably they will succeed. But experts are afraid of the possibility that they may fall allured of the consumer glamor at the cost of their core enterprise customer base.

People once created queues for the BlackBerry Storm. If the massive consumer marketing campaign by RIM succeeds, the history may repeat shortly. You don’t have much space to hide from BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) ads in San Francisco. The picture remains same in New York City too. Suddenly RIM is literally competing with Apple for city-wide eyeballs.

RIM demonstrated BlackBerry 6, the upcoming operating system, at their WES conference earlier this year. Then onwards the glimpses of it have been unveiled on YouTube, and in RIM’s blog. The photos and video demos of the Bold 9800 are also available now in the cyberspace, along with the rumors of a BlackBerry tablet.

BlackBerry 9780 features OS 6

BlackBerry’s OS 6 which is the talk on Blackberry related forums has yet to be rolled out officially, but there’s another phone from the line – the 9780, which has surfaced featuring a 512 MB of memory with looks that represent the Bold 9700 somewhat. On paper, the 9780 does resemble what the 9700 a should have been, which is to be able to run on OS 6. Apart from that, we could see a 5-mega-pixel camera included with the device, where that seems to be the new standard on which all BlackBerry devices are featuring these days. As for the BlackBerry Atlas, this is most likely the 9780′s CDMA counterpart since it boasts somewhat similar specifications.

The Blackberry OS 6 will bring another wave for the Blackberry application development which is going to be to come up with new API’s and other new goodies for Blackberry developers .

RIM’s response to Steve’s statement on Antenna issues

Recently Apple conducted Apple iPhone 4 Antenna conference , where there was a huge discussion on the Antenna issue iPhone 4 is facing , but Steve Jobs claimed that Apple’s antenna issues were not specific to the iPhone4 , and other smartphones like the Blackberry Bold 9700 have experienced similar issues . But blackberry users have reported that they haven’t faced such kind of issues and also does RIMs CEO feel so and defended the their device antenna . The official statement made by Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis on that was ;
“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.”

Generally RIM has always stood away from such controversies and comments but this was the time when RIM took a direct aim at Steve and replied them back .
This is a pity for Apple : The iPhone4 maker that instead of looking into resolution for the iPhone4 antenna issue they are defending themselves giving a pass to blackberry phones .

Facebook chat expected with the Facebook for Blackberry 2.0

If you ever checked your Facebook account for Blackberry permissions you will find that the there are few security settings to log in to Facebook Chat . These features were not seen in the upcoming versions of the Facebook app for blackberry , we hope Blackberry application developers of the Facebook team are likely to integrate them in Facebook 2.0 .

This service may come consolidated under  one large IM application .Which the current app has in separate and is tedious to use and lacks creativity  .
