BlackBerry Faces Multiple Challenges Following the Launch of New OS & Torch
Aug 5, 2010 News
Yesterday it was an important day for RIM. They have launched BlackBerry OS 6.0 and Torch on a high note. But it was not all well for RIM. First it has been reported that the new OS may not support all the models and also the apps running on OS 6.0 may not be good for a lower version of it.
Now RIM gets another big blow with the news that European Union Commission and French Govt. , both the bodies have rejected BlackBerry as the official communication device, Reuters reports. The EU Commission has selected iPhone 4 & HTC for its 32000 plus employees.
The news agency has also reported that the decision has been taken on a security ground. It’s worth a mention that earlier several Govt. like, Saudi Arabia, India, UAE, Kuwait, have raised security concerns about BlackBerry’s encryption technology which does not allow to track the messages transmitted among the users. Now EU Commission & French Govt has decided to follow their Asian counterparts. It should also be noted that Standard Chartered, a British MNC bank decided to parts its way with BlackBerry a few days back.
Analysts strongly believe that this can affect the business of BlackBerry in near future and RIM should seriously address the security concern of these authorities in a scenario of growing terrorism globally.
