The BlackBerry Partners Fund has announced the winners in this year’s BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge and they are:

North American Winner: Poynt
Latin America Winner: Vlingo Plus – Voice App
Europe / Middle East / Africa Winner: UbiNav EU
Asia Pacific Winner: Love Indonesia

Around 400 apps were evaluated for the challenge and the above apps were selected based on quality, user experience and how effectively they incorporated “Super App” characteristics. Winners each receive a Regional Winner prize package valued at more than $85,000, including an Elite membership in the BlackBerry Alliance Program, an App Promo package, BlackBerrys, prominent placement on BlackBerry App World for three weeks, and more. TORONTO - November 18, 2010 - After rigorously testing almost 400 applications for BlackBerry smartphones, Poynt, Vlingo Plus – Voice App, UbiNav EU and Love Indonesia were named the Regional Winners in their respective regions in the third annual BlackBerry Partners Fund “Super Apps” Developer Challenge.

Winners in this year’s Developer Challenge each receive a Regional Winner Prize package valued at more than $85,000, including an Elite membership in the BlackBerry Alliance Program, an App Promo package, BlackBerry smartphones, prominent placement on BlackBerry App World™ for three weeks, and much more.

Participants in this year’s BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge competed for a total prize package valued at over US$1.5 million. Prizes were made possible with the help of members of the BlackBerry Developer Services community – including 151 Ventures, App-Promo, DeviceAnywhere, Medialocate, Mob4Hire, and Perfecto Mobile – who provided numerous services to participants.

Finalists of the 2010 Super Apps Developer Challenge are Released

Today, the BlackBerry Partners Fund released the list of Regional Finalists in the Super Apps Developer Challenge. After extensive testing (and a lot of play time!) by our application experts, these apps ascended in their respective categories and regions and have earned special recognition. Here’s the list:

North American Finalists:

We hope by this time you all are aware of the super apps challenge and the blackberry’s partner fund is giving $1.5  million in prizes to the best blackberry app developer which could be useful to market your app to blackberry users , so you need to hurry up if need to be a part of the super apps developer challenge there are only 2 weeks left for submissions .

In the last week blackberry developers came up with a couple of fantastic apps . If you have an idea , turn it into a app and get into the race of super apps , or if you feel your app is worth recognition then why not give it a try ?  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to win some amazing prizes. The judges are getting ready to sink their teeth into the submissions, so make sure to get yours in soon.

Eligibility criterion for Blackberry Super apps developer challenge

The Challenge is open to developers working on a BlackBerry application in one of the following seven categories:

  • Productivity (Applications that help the user be productive and save time) – Business, Productivity and Finance
  • Fun & Games (Applications that help the user have fun) – Games, Entertainment and Utilities
  • Knowledge (Applications that help the user be empowered in life) – Education, Reference & eBooks, and Health & Wellness
  • Sharing (Applications that help the user share and socialize) – Instant Messaging and Social Networking
  • Navigate & Explore (Applications that help the user find what he or she is looking for) – Maps & Navigation, Travel and Shopping
  • Multi-Media (Applications that help the user enjoy ) – Music & Audio and Photo & Video
  • In the Know (Applications that keep the user up-to-date on the latest information) – News, Sports & Recreation and Weather

In order to be eligible, developers must be individuals resident, or entities located, within one of the four regions listed below. For the purposes of the Challenge, submissions will be categorized and judged according to the following geographic regions (each a “Region”):

  • Asia Pacific, excluding North Korea (“APAC”)
  • Latin America, including Mexico (“LATAM”)
  • Europe – Middle East – Africa (“EMEA”)
  • North America – Canada (excluding Quebec) and United States, excluding Mexico – (“NA”)

Super Apps Developer Challenge for Blackberry developers

The Blackberry developers who submit their apps for the developer challenge will receive 5 hours to use the Perfecto Mobile Handset Cloud service , and additional testing hours will be offered on discounted price .
